This May Be Controversial...

I think I have found one off my new favourite liquid lipsticks. This is not a drill- I am super excited about this one! The reason it may be controversial is because of where it is from- namely the delightfully inexpensive Primark. I know the words Primark and make up tend to go together like marmite and ice cream (although my Dad tells me that can be pretty yummy) but for once I think they've made a decent product.

I picked it up on a whim because I thought the colour was gorgeous and I can never say no to a £3 price tag! When I opened it up at home I was pleasantly surprised to find that within the box you get a lip liner to go with the liquid lipstick. I actually love using lip liners with pretty much any lipstick because for some reason I can never put lipstick on correctly the first go round. Using lip liner means I can make sure that the colour reaches every corner of my lips and that I end up following the correct line when I use the liquid lipstick (no clowns here!).

The lip liner slides on quite nicely and is fairly creamy, as well as being a good match to the lipstick colour. The lipstick itself is beautifully pigmented and glides on beautifully without being streaky. It dries completely matte without feeling too drying which some liquid lipsticks can and I didn't notice any cracking around my lips. After a little wear I did notice that the edges were starting to blur slightly around the outside of my lips so I think it would be worth sealing this one with something like Lipcote if you're planning to wear it for a while, but I didn't have to reapply it for a long while which is a definite plus. the lipstick also withstood the drinking test and didn't come off on the edge of a glass. One thing I did notice is that although it does dry matte, it can still be smudged if you rub it with your hand, so probably not a good one for eating or kissing unless you use the Lipcote to seal.

For a mere £3, I do think this is a pretty darn amazing liquid lipstick and I'll definitely be checking out their other colours. What's your opinion on Primark make up?

The Most Magical Collection

It'll be no news to everyone that Primark have released an amazing Harry Potter collection with everything from clothing to Christmas decorations. I am a complete Harry Potter freak (to the point where I even have a lightning bolt tattoo!) so of course I headed straight down to my nearest shop to see what magical delights I could snap up.

Similar to the Beauty and the Beast collection they released, it looks as though the different products will be released in stages, which means I'll keep heading back into store so see what else I can grab, but in the meantime I'm going to be busy cooing over what I already have. I was lucky enough to pick up several items from the collection which I LOVE.

I picked up one of the house blankets- in Gryffindor, naturally! It is so cosy and soft and perfect for snuggling up when the evenings turn a bit colder, while sipping a Butterbeer (or tea, whatever floats your boat). To go with my Gryffindor blanket, I also bought the cutest pair of Gryffindor pyjamas. These are crazy comfy and suitable for any time of the year due to the thinner material and tank top/shorts combo. Plus, they look amazing emblazoned with the Gryffindor logo and house traits.

Whenever I see different house accessories, I have to pick them up at the moment to start compiling things for my move later in the year. So when I saw some incredible coasters in the house colours, I had to pick them up. Nothing looks better than a Hogwarts themed dining table!

The last thing I picked up has to be my favourite- a pair of grey Converse style shoes. they are so comfortable and surprisingly sturdy for the minimal cost. Not to mention the adorable Harry Potter applique on the sides- subtle enough that only a true Potterhead would notice it!

I think on of the best things about this new collection has to be the cost. being Primark, you wouldn't expect it to break the bank anyway but I am pretty impressed that I still managed to get all of this for under £30!

What are your thoughts on the new collection? Let me know in the comments!

Finding the Perfect Face Mask!

My skin can be ridiculously fickle. Some days my eczema flares up and makes my skin feel super dry, yet other days it can be really oily- hello blackheads! I have been hunting for so long for a facemask or scrub that I can use to try and control my skin a bit more and keep it looking bright and fresh. So, when I saw this self-heating mask from Biore, I had to give it a go.

One of the benefits of this mask is that it only takes one minute. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a pamper and chilling out in a bath with a face mask on but I simply don’t have the time. This is one of the reasons why my skin gets so bad- because a lot of masks can be very time consuming. The appeal of this one is how easy and quick it is to use. All you have to do is dampen your face and massage the mask into your skin for one minute before rinsing it off. During the minute you feel the mask heat up on your skin- this happens on contact with water so you have to make sure your hands are dry when applying it otherwise you don’t get the full effect.

The heating effect is said to help draw out impurities that are clogged deep in the pores- similar to steaming your skin to open your pores. The natural charcoal then helps to cleanse the impurities from your pores to leave your skin clean and refreshed. I loved how the mask felt on my skin while it was on- I’ve always been a fan of self-heating masks! It also wasn’t too scrubby which means it didn’t feel harsh on my skin like some other charcoal products do.

Once I rinsed the product off I noticed that it had gotten rid of some of the surface impurities and helped to brighten my skin. A lot of the clogged pores were still noticeable which means further treatments would probably be needed to help draw them out, or even beginning with a stronger treatment and using this mask for upkeep. However, my skin did feel smoother and tighter than before which means the mask did cleanse my skin to some extent.

I did like this mask for upkeep once or twice a week but I think for a deeper cleanse something stronger would be needed.

Designing My New Home!

This year has so far been pretty exciting for me and the best has yet to come. I am (fingers crossed!) going to be moving into my own home by the end of the year! Anyone who knows me will know that this has been a very long time coming- so much so that I have a ridiculous amount of lists from paint colours that I like, to different pieces of furniture I want to buy. I even have spreadsheets to cost my income and expenditures. So, yes, I guess you could say I’m pretty excited. One thing I’ve been doing to pass the time in the lead up to moving in is trawling through Pinterest to find different room ideas and layouts that I like. I’ve always had a pretty eclectic style. Just looking around my room now, I have four different styles of storage units, a tonne of photographs and posters all over the walls and heaps upon heaps of clutter. Moving out is giving me a chance to refresh and reorganise my belongings and discover the themes that I like. So far I’ve found a few different ideas that I wanted to share with you all- you could always give me some of your own!

I like to think of myself as a bit of a pro when it comes to feature walls. My son’s bedroom currently has a Jungle Book mural across one wall (yes I painted it myself and I’m pretty darn proud of that). I want to do something similar for his room in the new house but also within my own room too. I love this idea from Pinterest because I am a self-confessed book nerd and this would incorporate my love of reading into the style of the room. This would take a huge amount of work so I’m looking at different ways I could create this feature wall- for example I’ve found some places that do some pretty awesome Harry Potter wall decals.

I think we’ll start to see a theme emerging soon- my love of books will pretty much take centre place in my home. I have a ridiculous amount of books but because of lack of space in my current home, they’ve all been packaged away in boxes. I cannot wait to be able to dust them all off and display them properly on something like this rather than your typical bookcase. I also think this adds an air of excitement which is super important in trying to encourage my son to read at this early stage. I’m even thinking of putting a mini reading tree into his room! Totally ambitious, but I just can’t help myself!

As a child I always remember lying in the weirdest position in my bedroom to try and find a comfy place after hours of reading. The amount of times my parents opened the door to find me stretched our across my bedroom floor was ridiculous! Because of this I want to create a comfy little nook in my new home where me and my boy can go to enjoy some quiet reading time, either by ourselves or together. I love this idea from Pinterest where they have a little nook underneath the stairs, but I’ll find room anywhere in the house- all you really need is a bunch of cushions and some soft lighting away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house!!

So my boy is really excited to finally get his own bedroom! I’ve also promised him all new furniture to help him really make the room his own, but one piece that I love is a little tent. I think this is so nice to have and can be used for so many different things, from a chill out zone to a sensory tent. It’s so important for children to have their own relaxing place, the same as adults, and I really want him to be as happy as possible in his room. After all, he’s going to be there for a while!

Speaking of childhood dreams, I’m going to try and make one of my own come true with my own new bedroom and create a canopy bed! I’ve seen so many ideas over Pinterest from using hoops or just pinning swathes of material to the ceiling. I want to create a really dreamy, relaxing room, free of technology, where I can just go to chill out after a hard day. This gorgeous princess style interior really reflects everything I’ve always wanted for a room and will help to stick with my clutter free theme.

These are just a few of the gorgeous styles and designs I want to incorporate into my home- head over to my Pinterest to see what else I am loving, as well as some of the storage hacks I’ve picked up along the way! Now excuse me while I go and plan an extensive Ikea trip…

Lush Mummy Blogger Morning

So I have finally gotten around to writing about the awesome time I had at the latest Lush Plymouth event. This one was extra special for me for two reasons- firstly, it wasn't your average blogger event. It was specifically aimed towards mummy bloggers which meant I got to take my little boy along with me. The second reason it was so special was because it happened to fall on my little boy's birthday- the perfect birthday treat for any aspiring Lushie!

The event started with us being welcomed in with drinks and nibbles courtesy of V is for Veggie. If you haven't checked our their delicious creations then make sure you pop down to Royal William Yard on the first Sunday of each month to see them because their cakes are incredible!

After removing the remaining frosting from around my child's mouth, we moved on to looking at one of my favourite children's bath ballistics- the Ickle Baby Bot. This teeny blue robot is super relaxing thanks to the lavender and chamomile oils which means it is perfect for those calming evening baths to get your little one sorted for bed time. The children then got to work with the lovely Naomi to make their very own Ickle Baby Bot's that they could then take home- they all had great fun pretending to be compacters and I'm pretty certain my little one will be requesting a Lush party soon so he can have another go.

One we'd finished relaxing with Ickle Baby Bot, we decided to have some 'Fun'. The mini- me had a go at creating some monsters with the brilliant Lorna using the bars of Fun. In case you haven't come across Fun before, it is essentially playdough for the bathtub that you can also use as a bubble bath, body wash and shampoo! All of your bathing needs in one little bar! There are lots of different kinds of Fun bars, each with their own scent, but my favourite has to be the super sweet Rainbow Fun. What I also love about the Fun bars is that when you buy them, 10p from each bar goes towards helping the children affected by the 2011 Japan Earthquake.

While the children explored the Fun, we had a look at some of the more practical products that would be useful for Mums and children, particularly in the hair department. The New shampoo bar uses a variety of different ingredients to promote a healthy scalp and luscious shiny hair, including peppermint and cinnamon leaf. We also looked at Trichomania, which is a super indulgent shampoo bar that uses coconut to moisturise the hair.

Once the children had finished with their Fun creations, we had a whistle stop tour through some more products including Pink Peppermint Foot Lotion, which is perfect for mums to use after long days running around after toddlers, and Honey I Washed The Kids soap, which is very moisturising and great for removing sticky substances from children's hands!

Overall it was a lovely morning with the Plymouth Lushies and my little birthday boy and I enjoyed our pamper and look through the products. We are still gradually making our way through the bar of Fun and think we'll definitely be popping in for another stock up when it's finished!

Super Summer Glow

The time has finally come for me to put down all my wintery makeup and drag out my stash of bright summer colours filled with shimmer. It looks like the sun is here to stay which means I am back into wearing all shades of nude, gloss and glitter. I thought I'd show off my five favourite products packed full of shimmer to help create that gorgeous summer glow!

Benefit High Brow
This is probably one of my favourite brow highlighters because it's such a gorgeous pearl shade with a super subtle metallic shimmer, perfect for adding extra depth to your brows, as well as an inner corner highlight for your eyes. Sometimes I even slick a little on my cupids bow to make my lips pop.

No7 Stay Perfect Shade and Define- Pink Pearl
I'm heading back to my roots with this one- pretty much my entire makeup collection used to be No7 and this is one little beauty that has stuck around. This gorgeous stick eye shadow smooths onto the lid beautifully and brightens up the eyes without looking too pink.

Lush Radiant
This stunning shimmery powder can be used as both an eye shadow and a highlight. I love the metallic silver shade that has lashings of silver and gold glitter throughout. This looks perfect as an inner corner highlight, or swept all over the lid for a bold evening look.

Hawaiian Tropic Lip Gloss- Island Berry
This is the only item on the list to not feature shimmer, but instead it is crazily glossy. The soft gloss makes your pout look incredible and adds a whole new dimension to your look. Not to mention, it tastes freaking amazing...just try not to lick it off!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector- Moonstone
This is one product that sticks with me throughout all the seasons- I just adore the pale gold tones with the high level of shimmer! A quick sweep of this over my cheeks and collar bone leaves me feeling like a fairy princess.

What are your favourite products to take you from winter to summer?

April Finds

This month I thought I would go over the new things I have found in April that are going on my must-have list. This includes TV shows, clothes, makeup and food.....there will always be food on my favourites list!

This show is my current new favourite and I'm not ashamed to admit that I binge-watched the entire first season on Netflix within about 3 days. What can be better than a show with gorgeous costumes, fight scenes, romance, plot twists and all set within a futuristic world. I freaking adore it! A definite must watch for all you sci-fi geeks.

Loreal Paris Matte Lip
My new lippy love is the Loreal Paris Matte lipstick. I love a good matte lipstick and this one feels so nice unlike some other brands which can be a little drying. This range also comes in a gorgeous array of colours- my absolute favourite has to be the bright pink Smoke Me Up.

Primark Ballet Shoes
So before the Easter holidays I pretty much destroyed my work shoes. And by destroyed I mean the whole sole was coming off. Not pretty. Being the cheap and cheerful person that I am, I decided to pop into Primark to see if they had any replacements that wouldn't break the bank, and I was not disappointed! I bought a super cute pair of ballet flats that fit perfectly and are crazy comfy to wear day in, day out. Not to mention they make me feel like a ballerina- who wouldn't want that?

I'm pretty ashamed to admit this, especially as a blogger, but until last month I had never tried macaroons! I finally returned to the magical land of Disneyland Paris last month and thought it would be the perfect time to try them. I found a lovely little stall selling packs of multi-coloured Disney themed macaroons and they were delicious. So chewy and soft with the perfect filling- they are probably my new favourite snack!

What are your favourite from the last month?
